After initial contact, the first meeting is best held at the home of the subject. At this point the overall tone and composition of the portrait is discussed. Size, background, lighting and other particulars are taken into consideration*. An appointment is made at this time for the taking of necessary photographs (unless, the subject is not available, as in the case of a posthumous portrait, in which case available photographs will be used).
A subsequent appointment is made to view and discuss the photographs. If necessary, a second photo shoot can be scheduled at this time.
Once the artist, with input from the client, has decided upon the best composition for the subject, the painting will be commissioned.
At this point, a non-refundable deposit of 50% will be due. Balance will be due upon completion and acceptance by the client of the commission.
Once the painting has been completed, an appointment is made for delivery and viewing of the portrait.
*Props and other considerations will be negotiated with the artist.
